Joined by the erudite Susan Kim, Andy tastes his way through BCD Tofu House's menu and then learns how to make some Korean staples, including seafood pajeon (scallion pancakes) and seafood soon tofu.

This series pre-dates the pandemic and the BA blow up and it was doing some important things that have now become relevant - highlighting local restaurants run by chefs of color. So good for Andy for doing it before it was cool.

BCD is OK. It's the place you go to after the bars when you're hungry at 1 AM. Beverly Soon Tofu closed down during the pandemic here in LA, which was sooooooooo gooooooood. If you didn't eat there, you lost out. Sorry.

See she’s Korean and knows what is authentic. Non Korean Guy who’s reviewing this wouldn’t really know if it’s supposed to taste like that. I’m sure it tastes good, but when she said, “nailed it” then you know it’s legit. So this guy did a good job with this video.

3:30, definitely feel like that bias isn't just prevalent in only chefs who were trained in the U.S, but also most americans! I.e what we think "breakfast," should be vs other cultural traditions (donut/pancakes vs banchan).

As far as ice cubes in cuisine, growing up with an Italian background, summer is not complete without a tomato salad with ice cubes. Tomatoes, garlic, fresh basil, a good olive oil and frozen water. Dash of dried oregano and you have my favorite dish of all time.
